KAFART, the Kaduna Fashion and Art Festival, is an initiative of Gazelle Creative Foundation. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through kafartng.org, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it. This Policy is written to comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 (NDPA). By using this website, submitting a form, or applying to a KAFART Open Call, you acknowledge that your personal data will be processed as described here.
1. Who we are
KAFART is a biennial art and fashion festival based in Kaduna, Nigeria, organised under Gazelle Creative Foundation. For the purposes of the NDPA, Gazelle Creative Foundation is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
What we collect
We collect information you choose to give us and limited technical data needed to operate and understand the website:
- Newsletter sign-up: email address.
- Open Call applications: name, email, contact details, biography, portfolio materials, and any other information the application form requests at the time.
- Event attendance and photography: if you attend a KAFART event, you may be photographed or filmed as part of general event documentation.
- Automatically collected data: limited technical information including browser type, device type, pages visited, and page-performance measurements, collected through the hosting service, Cloudflare Web Analytics, and embedded services such as Google Maps. We do not use this data to identify you personally.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data, such as health, religion, or ethnicity, through this website. Please do not include such information in open-ended application fields unless it is directly relevant to your submission.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who else sees it
We share personal data only where necessary to run the site and the festival:
- Google Apps Script and Google Sheets, which process newsletter sign-up data on our behalf.
- Google, for the embedded map on the Venue page. Loading the live map may share standard technical data, such as your IP address, with Google under its own privacy policy.
- Gazelle Creative Foundation, KAFART's parent organisation, for internal administration.
- Legal or governmental authorities, only where required by law.
- Cloudflare, which provides website delivery, security, and privacy-focused aggregate web analytics.
Some service providers may process data on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we require the provider to maintain data protection standards consistent with the NDPA. We do not share your data with sponsors, partners, or third parties for their own marketing purposes without asking you first.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Open Call application data: for the duration of that edition's selection process, plus a reasonable archival period for record-keeping. It is then deleted unless you become a confirmed exhibitor, in which case relevant details are retained as part of the edition's historical record.
Your rights
Under the NDPA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your data, subject to any legal reason we may need to keep it.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter.
- Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you believe your data has been mishandled.

Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, including restricting who on our team can access submitted data and relying on reputable service providers with their own security practices. No online system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take this responsibility seriously.
Cookies
KAFART does not currently set its own non-essential cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics is configured without cookies. Embedded services, including Google Maps, may set their own cookies or collect technical data under their own policies when you load them.
Photography and filming at KAFART events
KAFART events are documented for promotional, archival, and press purposes. By attending a KAFART event, you acknowledge that you may appear in photography or video captured during the event, and that this material may be used on this website, on KAFART's and Gazelle Creative Foundation's social media, and in press or promotional materials for future editions. If you would prefer not to be photographed, please let event staff know, and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this. If you are a featured exhibitor, separate consent covering your profile, portfolio images, and bio is obtained as part of your participation agreement.
Children's data
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18 without appropriate consent.
